Job Description:
- Seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a broad engineering skillset, strong work habits, and a passion for hands-on project involvement.
- Qualified candidates will have an opportunity to support military ground vehicle projects with design and release responsibilities mechanical components and subsystems.
- These responsibilities include the application of engineering principles to generate designs, solve complex problems, and support the build, test and production of various projects.
- These projects also include the updating of legacy designs to resolve obsolescence issues and enable an efficient manufacturing process.
- The primary areas of focus for this role include seating, battery enclosures, steering & braking controls, shock/vibration isolation, stowage, lighting, and electro-mechanical actuators, but could include other mechanical systems as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Developing detail hardware concepts using CAD modeling tools and ensuring developed concepts meet all technical requirements.
- Operating within cross-functional teams supporting program deliverables related to technical requirements, cost and schedule.
- Collaborating with engineering peers within the project team to ensure developed concepts support a balanced system level approach that achieves the necessary performance requirements.
- Collaborating with drafting personnel in maturing design concepts to a production-ready state.
- Overseeing the release of hardware models and prints.
- Supporting the manufacturing organization in the fabrication and integration of developed hardware onto prototype and/or production platforms.
- Supporting, when required, testing and verification of developed hardware.
- Leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) analysis to resolve identified technical issues with prototype and/or production hardware.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics (preferred), Mechanical Engineering, or related field, from an ABET accredited program.
- 3-5 years of engineering experience in the defense, aerospace, or automotive industry. Military land vehicle experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of, and prior experience with, electromechanical systems and components, including actuators, sensors, motors, and control systems.
- Experience creating fabrication drawings and familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Prior experience with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup
- Experience creating and releasing components, assembly models, and detailed drawings using NX or Creo.
- Experience creating drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100 standards.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
- Basic Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and self-start.
- Mind-set to work collaboratively in a team environment for program success.
